Dave will base her on Loch Craignish and use her for West Coast cruising and whale watching. He bought her knowing she needed some work, dealing with rot in the deck and some areas of planking. Our specialist yacht shipwright, Bruce was keen that the repairs be appropriate to the construction of the boat, economical and cost effective. The yacht shed can accommodate two 50ft boats at the same time.
As can be seen from the photo’s the majority of the deck was taken up and replaced, forehatch moved, deck beams repaired and replaced as necessary, large amounts of topside planking as well as planking below the waterline replaced.
Significant rot in the port bow was cut out with a frame being replaced and new planking scarfed in. Dave, the owner has taken the opportunity of using this period to re-configure the accommodation himself in conjunction with structural advice from Bruce.
Protect Me 3 will go back in the water in April fine fit and ready for many more decades of lovely Scottish cruising.
